On Sunday 22nd April at 4pm The Sixteen and the Britten Sinfonia will be performing Sir James MacMillan's Stabat mater, surrounded by Michelangelo's stunning frescos in the Sistine Chapel. And you can watch it live, wherever you are in the world.
The Sixteen (who are the official Voices of Classic FM), the Britten Sinfonia and conductor Harry Christophers will perform Sir James MacMillan’s Stabat mater - a powerful setting of a 13th-century Catholic hymn to Mary, portraying the suffering of a mother during his crucifixion. The hour-long work has been hailed as a modern masterpiece and a recording released on The Sixteen’s label, CORO, was shortlisted for a 2017 Gramophone Award.
You'll be able to watch this concert live on Classic FM's facebook page, or on their website from 5pm this Sunday.
