The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir celebrated the remarkable contemporary musical life of Estonia (a country that this year celebrates 100 years since its first period of independence) at NCH on 31st January. Several members of Cantairí Avondale were there to enjoy the music.
Conducted by Kaspars Putniņš, the choir have been nominated for 14 Grammy awards and their repertoire extends from Gregorian chant and baroque to the music of the 21st century, with a special focus on the music of Estonia's greatest composer Arvo Pärt whose vocal music is written exclusively for the ensemble.
Cantairi Avondale have performed Pärt's Deer's Cry at several concerts.
